What I Did On My Summer Vacation - Part 2

So, Alan and I meet in Detroit on Saturday and fly to Springfield together. We ate at Waffle House. We've missed Waffle House. We chose to stay at the Extended Stay America. Upon arriving in Springfield, we rented a car and drove to Walmart to pick up drinks and snacks for our stay. Then to the afore mentioned Waffle House and then, finally to our hotel. It had been a long day. Sunday we got up and went to James River Church. Friends of mine started that church and friends of mine pastor it. We heard a wonderful message. It was so good to be in a real church again even if it was a huge one. We then met our friends Matt and April Wilkie and their daughter Parker for coffee at Panera Bread. It was so good to see them again. Then, it was off to the fair where we met my brother and his family. The nephews have really grown this past year. Todd has lost his little boy look and you can just catch a glimpse of the man he will become. Derek still has it at least for a few more years, but no one is rushing him. The fair was HOT!, but the food was good as all self respecting fair food should be. It seems to be the only place in the world you can find a good corn dog and good fried green tomatoes. MMMMM MM. Alan had never been to the fair before so it was a new experience for him lol city slicker. A good time was had by all. The next day we headed for the mall to get Alan a new pair of glasses and then to Lebanon to the factory outlet mall there. Alan had decided it was time for new clothes. He is not a clothes horse so I really encourage him when he decides it's time to shop. We had dinner at our favorite Mexican place La Mexican Kitchen. Their salsa is the best!
On Tuesday we did more shopping in town. I got my hair done and we went by to see my friend Carrie. Wednesday we headed for Lawton, OK to see some good friends and to see my dentist. The dentists here in Germany are just not (in my humble opinion) as good as those back home. And none of course is a good as mine. I had a crown loose and he fixed it for me no charge. You could have knocked me over with a feather. We also had a chance to go to our old church. It was good to be home. We squeezed in as many different friends as we could and drove back to Springfield the next day. Part 3 tomorrow.

Rebecca,

I wanted to share something with you that is so interesting! You left a comment on a post on mine called 'Parlez Vous Francais' that I posted on February 9, 2007. Your comment has been stuck in comment moderation ever since then and then today it posted! I wasn't able to view it until today!

Anyway I wanted to let you know that I wasn't trying to ignore you I never received it. (o:

Being back in the States after being in Germany is like being a little child in a candy store, isn't it??? You just want to take it all in again before hopping back on the plane to Europe.
Panera Bread is awesome!!! I ate there several times when I went home to FL in May / June. Yum!! And my mom had never been there so I took her and she loved it!
I am glad you got to spend time with you friends and go to the fair and to the mall. Ahhhh the mall....the only store I really go to is the Yankee Candle Co. It's the only thing interesting...LOL.

I got new glasses when I was Stateside as well. It's such a hassle here in Germany for us wives to get an eye exam and glasses. I mean, for me, I have to travel 35 minutes to another base just to get all that done. It's stupid.

You were in Lawton!!!! Not fair! DH and I miss Lawton so much!!!! We were there from 2004-2005.
I know where your old church is at...we used to pass it all the time when DH and I would take evening drives around Lawton.
I used to go to New Testament Christian Church on Lee Blvd. and DH went to Holy Family Catholic Church. He keeps telling me he misses a real Catholic church cuz the one on base is just not helping him grow at all.
So, yeah he's looking forward to getting out of Germany as much as I am.

I am enjoying rading about your trip and can't wait to read more!!!

God Bless You!

Mrs. B., not to worry. I hadn't remembered it at all and certainly didn't think ill of you. It is interesting how that happens though. I had a friend recieve an email of mine about 6 months or so after I sent it. Hmmm where does it go for all that time?

Dawn, We were in Lawton from 2003 - 2005 so our time overlapped. Send me an email and tell me what unit your husband was in.

He was in 2-2 FA there in Ft. Sill.

We must have come to Germany around the same time. We got here August 2005. It seems so much longer though. I feel like I have been trapped here my intire life...LOL.

Did you and your hubby travel to OKC or Wichita Falls alot? We did. We also liked going to Duncan cuz they had an awesom and cheap mexican place there, and of course another Wal-Mart, Goodwill, Hastings...

Blessings!

Sounds like y'all are having fun! :D But now you made me hungry for a good fair corn dog! Yum!
Thank you so much for the comment, and I appreciate you praying for me. I am doing a bit better, and it was so good to "see" you and hear about your vacation. God Bless you, Miss Rebecca!
