This blog is just a collection of my humble thoughts and a journal of my roller-coaster life as an Army wife.

And So On And So Forth
Alan is out of town again so when he comes back I will ask him to post pictures of the ball for you. It's funny that we went to a Greek restaurant on Sunday because today there was a farewell luncheon for the CO's secretary and I had to attend to represent my husband who is away. It was at the other Greek restaurant in town. So, I've had my fill for a while. In other news our allergies have been bad and we have just about decided we are allergic to our boy Smokey. :( It's hot here and there is no air conditioning. Hey Jungle Mom, do y'all have air conditioning where you are? I am getting used to it, but I sure am glad for the fans.

The housing units here in Darmstadt do not have air conditioning. Ugh....
So far it hasn't been to hot out but I know it will get worse, especially in July. We have 3 fans. 2 we found when someone who moved just left them in the basement. They were in great condition so we snatched them up. They are German fans so once we leave, we will just leave the fans for someone else.
My husband also just found a big 20 inch or larger duel voltage TV in perfect condition. Someone else was moving and didn't have room for it, so woooohooooo! :)
But yeah, it would be nice to have A/C but since we don't, no point in complaining about it. Just got to keep the drapes closed and drink lots of cold water and Gatorade. :)
I would die without our AC. Thanks all the more for your sacrifices.I'm disappointed to hear our enlisted men and women don't have AC! You all should have the very best! Is it because where you are, the AC isn't needed very much during the year? As for Jungle Mom, nope, no AC for them either in the jungle! I think they did take converted fans or ran them off the generator. Now in the city they have a window unit in their bedroom only.
Well, until the last year or so, it never got much more than 75 degrees Fahrenheit. However, weather it's the normal cycle of things as the scientists say or global warming like Al Gore says, last summer it was over 90 every day for 3 months and this summer promises to be the same. Also, last summer it rained very little which is really wierd for Germany. The rain keeps the heat down you see. So no, there is no AC and they arent going to put it in. They tell us to suck it up. And we can't buy window sets because the windows here are different than our windows in the States and they won't fit. We can buy portable ones for 600 - 1000 dollars but they only do one room and you have to find a way to get the hot exhaust out.
